When Gesu re-opened in the early 1990s, the school struggled to raise funds in support of their annual operating costs and to establish an endowment.

John E. Backe and his father, John D. Backe, saw that their needs transcended marketing or communications. They agreed to partner with the school financially, emotionally, strategically, and organizationally, in helping them shape their future.

We assessed the needs, core values, and options for the school as it planned for the next ten years, providing strategic guidance and creative support.

The first Gesu Annual Fund mailer, which we created, produced an extraordinary response rate of over 11.5%. Since then, Backe and the Backe Foundation have continued to remain actively engaged with Gesu on a regular basis, re-designing and rebuilding a new website, which has helped increase online giving.
