DEDICATED TO HELPING OTHERS.
The Backe Foundation was created in 1997 by John D. Backe with a singular mission: Committed to Changing Outcomes. What began as more than simply words or a foundational positioning, this mantra has translated into everyday decisions and actions that have made and continue to make a profound difference.
Today, John E. Backe carries this mission forward, to positively affect and noticeably impact others in a very material way. Where some foundations might be satisfied with a generous one-time gift or form of public recognition, The Backe Foundation is rare, in ensuring their dollars are put into action.
Together, John and his late father have created, funded, supported or extended the reach of numerous programs, from the creation of the Backe Advanced Writing program at the Gesu School in Philadelphia and aiding the Worldwide Fistula Fund, to helping break the cycle of poverty through the Guadalupe Center in Immokalee, Florida, to a sizable investment in innovation and alternative energy solutions through Florida Gulf Coast University’s Innovation Hub, to in-kind services and support for Operation Surf, which helps military men and women suffering from emotional, physical or mental trauma heal through the power and peace of surfing. The foundation has also continued to promote early literacy, by supporting Philadelphia Literacy Day.
What began as a way of giving back to those less fortunate or in need has truly become a way of thinking, acting and caring for the everyday lives of others. It is with this great sense of purpose, warmth and business acumen that The Foundation responds to the obvious and nascent needs of others.
We’re a digital marketing and brand communications agency, focused on creating smart, beautiful and strategically-driven work.
